How long do I have to work out to see results?

A pretty common question when considering starting physical training. And fairly so! When you can expect to see results is surely something that's on your mind in the beginning.

However, whatever your desired result (getting stronger, leaner, less stiff, or something else), I don't think this is the right question to ask.

Let's say you start exercising and after a few months, you are stronger and less stiff. Great! And then what? If you then stop exercising completely, chances are that those results are going to be gone sooner than later.

Annoyingly, the health benefits of physical training and exercise are like a pill. It only works when you take it consistently.

So, if you want to hold onto your desired results, you have to hold onto your practice.

In short:

- How long do I need to exercise to get stronger? Probably 4 or 5 weeks!

- More importantly, how long do I need to exercise to STAY stronger? Forever.

This is not to say that you need to work out every single day, but rather that what you should aspire to is a physical practice (exercise habit) that works in your everyday life. All your life.

Then the question suddenly changes:

- How long does it take to make physical training a habit (constant part of my week).

Of course, the answer is highly dependent on the individual and the person's life situation, other habits, starting point, etc.

However, the best thing you can do in order to create an exercise habit is to make it easy and obvious.

Working with a good trainer is one way (and a great one) to check both those boxes.

If you're contemplating integrating physical training into your life and are seeking to cultivate a sustainable habit, I'm here to offer my expertise and support. I would be glad to collaborate with you on the journey towards achieving your fitness goals.
